Visit the observatory in Burgum and be inspired by the wonders of the universe, or see how people lived in the Middle Stone Age.

Observeum is the only museum in the Netherlands with a large Middle Stone Age exhibition. We also show the contrast between rich and poor in the 19th century and how Hendrik Bulthuis made sailing with the BM-er affordable for everyone in the 20th century. New are the exhibitions on medieval monastic life and Geology.

Also, we are the only public observatory in the north with fixed hours!

On Friday evenings it is Stargazing Night and the telescopes and digital planetarium are ready for you. There are also two presentations in the digital planetarium every afternoon.

Most of the Observeum is accessible to visitors in wheelchairs.
