Whether you're on vacation or "just" at home here, you'll see more of this beautiful region by bike. Along small paths, scenic cycle routes, alongside the water, or through the alder hedges; it's freedom, and it's always lovely. On this page, we've put together some great routes for you.

Want to grab a bite or take a break along the way? We've got rest stops, but also Frisian-style supermarkets: delicious regional products by the roadside or a milk vending machine where you can meet the cows! There are even routes dedicated to regional products.

Creating Your Own Route

It's easy to create your own route with the extensive network of numbered junctions (knooppunten). You can find the map online or buy a paper version from your accommodation provider or at one of the Tourist Information Points (TIPs). The major route-planning apps also have the junctions on their maps. Be sure to grab a free "Treasures" map: it shows all the activities in the "Land in Friesland" region. Perfect for a stopover or a varied day out.

You could, of course, cycle to the ends of the earth as a holiday destination. But if you want to enjoy the beautiful scenery, the distinctive Frisian hospitality, and fantastic activities, then stay right here. Why not take a safari in the Lauwersmeer National Park, go boating at night in De Alde Feanen National Park, immerse yourself in the history and unique shops of Dokkum, and enjoy the authentic, magnificent scenic farming landscape? Or cycle from nature to beautiful villages, from the Wadden Sea to the forests? Get to know all the birds and sometimes imagine yourself in the unique "ends of the earth" environment.
