Since 1985, this stretch of water has been the finish line of the Elfstedentocht tour skating event. But even when it is not cold enough to skate, there is always something to see. A striking art installation was erected here in 2019, and nearby is Bonkebeach: a popular recreational area with a water playground, football pitch and village green. Perfect if you have the kids in tow!
